I'm still waiting for another batch of photos from the Paris-Brussels trip so I guess you'll have to wait some more before I do the trip update..
(Well honestly, I've got more than enough photos already but considering my complete laziness at this moment, I'll wait till the final batch arrives, then I'll do it. Promise.)
Anyway, what I wanted to talk about was my trip to uni a couple of days ago.. I had loads of errands to run.. First, I went to pay my accommodation fees (900 quid!).. Then, I went to the post office to claim the fees back from Petronas and my mobile phone's cashback from Carphone Warehouse.. Then, I went to HSBC to settle some ongoing stuff with my (depleting) account.. Afterwards, I wanted to go shop for groceries but I changed my mind so I decided to hang out in the uni computer labs.. That was when I bumped into my lecturer Mr. G.. He came up to me and said..
"Congratulations!"
"Huh? For what?"
"For getting the scholarship."
"Huh?? What scholarship?"
"The Overseas Bursary award."
"Uh, sir, I don't know what you're talking about."
"What? Oh." (At this point his face goes a few shades whiter than he already is.)
So we both went up to his office to check his e-mail and true enough, he's been given the final list of award receipients, only he didn't know that the students didn't get that list..
Alhamdulillah.. rezeki :)
(The money gets paid in after summer. So don't get any ideas. Yet.)
Then we both sat down and chatted.. He's always been one of my favourite lecturers.. He's witty and insightful.. One of the few nuggets of wisdom I got from him was his mantra, "Don't touch my keyboard!"
Now before you accuse him of being over-protective, this is simply his way of making sure that when he asks for help, he's learning something new instead of being spoonfed.. He said that especially with women, when we ask for help i.e. in programming, men tend to take over control and proceed to whip up lines of code.. That may work and it might solve the problem a lot faster, but then we (women) won't learn anything and when the problem pops up again, we would have no clue on what to do.. So Mr. G told me to use his mantra as much as possible :)
He also showed me his Malaysian blood donor card.. And an Israeli card.. And a British card.. Apparently he used to donate blood a lot until he had an operation.. He was looking for his Malaysian knife(?) when my dad rang me so I had to cut our chit-chat short..
Oh, BTW, I met Gary the bus driver twice on Moday.. The first time was on the way to uni.. I asked if he's Gary and he said, "Yes. I remember you." :)
He's really nice and friendly.. There was this old lady who got on and he jokingly said, "I don't want your money!" because senior citizens travel for free beginning on that day :P
The second time I saw him was on the way back to halls.. I was with Kak H when we boarded the bus and when he saw us, he said "That was quick!"
.. to Kak H :P
So before I got off the bus, I went up to him and said, "You don't recognize me, do you?" to which he laughed and then we ended up chatting for a bit.. He correctly identified Kuala Lumpur as the capital of Malaysia and told me he always liked Geography and eastern culture.. But the interesting bit was that while he was talking, he actually slowed down the bus and his head was turned 90 degrees towards me.. Then when we got to my stop, he didn't open the door! I guess he didn't know that I was the one who rang the stop bell :P
It was really scary.. But sweet at the same time.. I smiled all the way back to my room :)
OMG, I think I'm having a crush on him.. LOL :P
