Three weddings in a week!
1. Cousin's wedding, Alor Star
I became a penanggah, a.k.a. bunga telur girl.. The last time I became one was during my neighbour's wedding so this time around, I was quite the veteran.. LOL.. The bride's mom was understandably stressed out organizing everything, resulting in everybody else getting scolded by her every now and then :P
My cousin looked beautiful in her cream and maroon bridal gowns.. And her make-up.. Sigh.. I swear she looked every bit like a princess.. The thing about watching other people getting married is that every girl in the world dreams about their own dream wedding.. So to see somebody else living that dream just makes it all the more tantalizingly real.. But that being said, since I come from the bride's family, I can see first hand how painstaking it was to actually get the whole ceremony off the ground.. From the door gifts to the wedding reception, there was a multitude of tasks to do.. If you're just a guest, it's easy to overlook the hard work that was put in by a lot of people to make everything look perfect..
And I'm very proud of my mom.. The moment she walked in, she was already calling the shots on how the hantaran (wedding gifts) should be decorated and everybody in the family looked up to her :)
2. Collegemate IH's wedding, Penang
The first in our '03-'05 batch to get married! OMG, I feel so old.. We had a KYUEM convoy consisting of 12 people and 3 cars from KL to Penang.. We stopped over a couple of times for some durian(!), langsat and a bit of fresh carbon monoxide air..
One thing that we learned about doing a convoy in Penang is that you WILL get LOST.. Our car in particular had to be 'rescued' because we lost sight of the front car and proceeded to miss a left turn.. After checking into the Merchant Hotel, we all jalan-jalan cari makan with our trusted tour guide, U, who lives in Penang.. He brought us to Padang Kota for some squid fried mee.. After showing us Penang's Big Ben and the courthouse that turned out to be the city council, we took a walk along Gurney Drive all the way up to Plaza Gurney.. Another two collegemates joined the gang and we all had char kuey teow and satay for dinner in front of USM.. Yummy.. Later, we traversed the twists and turns leading to Batu Feringghi only to find most of the shops closed.. So we drove all the way back to town and went to some stall that sells dirt cheap pirated DVDs.. One of the guys said, "Kalau tak nak buat dosa, jangan keluar," so since that sounded pretty dodgy, we girls just stayed in the car while the boys went about with their business :P That night, we girls had our customary girl-talk while the guys were up and about looking for nocturnal creatures..
The highlight of the trip was, of course, the wedding.. It was small but very lively.. And the bride was drop-dead gorgeous in her glittering, fire-engine red bridal dress! Our convoy met another group of collegemates there so you can safely say that we KYUEMans conquered the guestlist hands down.. It rained quite heavily for a while but luckily it let up quickly..

3. Uni senior's wedding, KL
I was supposed to meet a couple of friends at the Ampang LRT station at 11.30am but my Komuter train from Shah Alam only left at exactly that time.. I arrived decidedly late :P
When we got there, M and I went straight into the house to meet the bride who was our senior so we met the hosts and asked whether "boleh tak kami jumpa pengantin".. They gave us directions towards the bridal room and we headed that way.. When we were walking halfway through the doorway, only then did we realize that the pengantin in question was the bridegroom! Thank God he didn't see us amidst the flurry of activity within the room as we fled the scene.. It didn't really occur to us that since we were attending the bridegroom's wedding reception, the bridegroom waits for the bride to arrive, not the other way round.. Gila maluuuuu :P
Up next: another collegemate's wedding this mid-September :)
