A lot has happened since last Sunday.. To begin with, did I tell you that the Islamic Society in Southampton declared that our Eid was on Friday? That's a bloody day later than the rest of the world.. OK, maybe except Morocco, because apparently we're following them since they're the closest Muslim country to us, which is why we aren't following Saudi Arabia who celebrated on Thursday (???) Oh, whatever.. Anyway, to say that I'm disappointed is an understatement.. But there's nothing I can do because the whole Malaysian community follows our uni's ISoc.. Sigh :/
On the eve of Eid, I was playing chess :P Did I tell you I'm in Team B of our uni's chess team? Well, to begin with, there aren't that many members in our chess club.. So we all became uni reps almost by virtue of becoming chess club members :P
So at 7.30pm last Thursday, our team of five met Team Andover who walked in complete with suits, ties and briefcases :P When I asked about their formal gear, the guy told me they just got off from work at the Ministry of Defence..
"What kind of work do you do?" I asked.
"Oh, buy tanks."
Whoa :|
Anyway, we lost 1-4 :P
Then in the morning of Eid, I went to 3 different open houses in between the morning Eid prayers and my 11am Maths lecture :P
Overall, my first morning of Eid in the UK isn't so bad after all :)
