Today, my friends and I took a 1-hour train ride to Portsmouth today for some shopping! Went to Gunwharf Quays, a shopping complex that has so many branded factory outlet shops.. Gap, FCUK, Marks & Spencers, Nike, Adidas.. We could see astronomical price cuts to the goods on sale.. A jacket which sells for 100 quid elsewhere was being sold for 35 quid! Not that I bought it, though.. 35 quid is considered a bit steep for us already :P
But do you want to know what my favourite store is? Cadbury factory outlet! They actually sold these small tins of Flake chocolates which you couldn't find in Malaysia except at KLIA.. Back home, the same tin would cost almost RM30.. I found it for 3 quid! But I decided to come back later and buy them when I've finished going through all the other stores.. When I came back, the tins were gone! I tell you, the whole shelf was clean.. It's so sad and depressing.. If only I knew, I would've bought a tin before I left earlier.. But, oh well.. By the end of the shopping trip, I bought a pair of boots and a couple of clothes :P
Afterwards, we went to a festival being held around the historic dockyards (at least that's what I've been told) and we saw many people wearing many fancy costumes, from Victorian dresses to English guards' attire.. We even met a group of men in kilts! There was live music and an artists' market where we saw beatiful drawings being done right before our eyes :)
On the way back, I couldn't sleep a wink even though everybody else was sleeping like a baby inside the train.. I watched a beatiful sunset overlooking a river on the left side of the carriage.. And just as we were arriving at Southampton Central, I was perplexed to find the sunset now on my right hand side :/
My mom told me UK is beatiful.. She's right.. I can't wait to see more :)
