Mountbatten Fire
Well, if you've been reading my earlier posts, you'd know that it doesn't really affect my lectures and labs because I rarely use ECS buildings anyway.. There's been a directive that all lectures go on as scheduled, so there's no "fire holiday" if you were wondering :P
But as of this afternoon, the main road leading to the university and the main bus interchange had been closed down.. I wonder if it'll still be closed tomorrow.. I'm sure a lot of students are thinking about the same thing :/
It's so surreal.. I woke up at 8am for carboot shopping when my senior told me about the fire.. At first I thought it involved the Zepler building which housed most of the undergrad labs, but fortunately it was spared.. Can't say the same about the million-dollar clean rooms and research labs :S
Nonetheless, today is one of those rare days when I actually like the British weather.. It's been raining all day and I can't begin to say how relieved I am that it is.. The firemen battled with the fire since early in the morning.. They only managed to control it in the afternoon..
Like I said, it's really surreal.. A burning university is just something that you'd think would never happen to you.. The cause of the fire's still under investigation.. I'm apprehensive as to how much this is going to affect us students :/
