I'm back in college.. The college admin delivered on their promise of new computers for most of the students' chalets.. Brand new Packard Bell PCs.. And so far the wireless connections have been sweet, with intermittent delays, but overall it's a huge improvement.. Thanks Big B :D
Although I must add, they've cleverly locked the system administrator's user account, so basically students aren't allowed to install anything on their computers.. Those sly IT people :P
And talking about modifications, the cafe has another counter in the works and people have been touting it as the "new Dot.co".. I don't know why our college needs two co-op shops at the same time, but like I said, these are rumours, so I don't really know what's happening :P Apart from that, they've installed 2 huge TV sets on both sides of the cafe.. Cool.. I'll bet that once those start to work, there'll be mini civil wars just to switch channels.. hehe :P
Yesterday, my mom and my brother sent me to college.. He recently passed his driving test, so while he was munching a hamburger at the back, he kept pestering my mom so that he could drive.. My mom didn't budge.. It was raining so hard outside that we couldn't see very clearly.. Then suddenly a white Mercedes in front of us stopped abruptly.. My mother hit the brakes, but because the road was so slippery, the car couldn't stop at all.. We all panicked.. My mom started to scream.. I was sitting in the front passenger seat so my mom held out her left arm in front of me.. Then - BOOM! - we crashed into the Merc! The impact was so strong that my head hit the windscreen and the pickle from my bro's sandwich flew onto the dashboard :P For a moment, we were shellshocked.. It took a while before everything started to sink in.. I rubbed the top of my skull continuously and after a while the initial pain started to go away.. I looked at the back to ask how my brother was and that was when I saw a huge bus stopping right behind our car.. A bus.. I swear, at that moment I was so scared to death.. What were to happen if the bus didn't brake on time?
Gulp :|
I looked at the car in front of me.. By then, my mom had already went to negotiate with its driver.. His bumper was smashed.. At that point, I saw something at the windscreen.. A crack.. OMG, how did that happen? It couldn't be.. But.. Wait a minute.. OMG.. I did that.. My head cracked the windscreen..
Gulp :|
Only God knows how scared I was.. And to think I wasn't wearing my seatbelt :P Yes, I know, I can hear you scream "That's so stupid of you!".. But honestly, I've been known to wear it almost everytime I get into a car.. Ask Z.. Ask F.. They've teased me for restricting myself by wearing seatbelts.. But yesterday, on the day I decided not to wear it, we got involved in an accident.. So from now on end, no matter what people say, I will always wear seatbelts till the day I die, which hopefully won't be in a car accident :P
The car's handbrake casing was completely destroyed.. Apparently my brother was mounting his feet on it during the crash, so it must've soften the blow for him.. My goodness.. Now I call my brother 'Kaki Besi' and he calls me 'Headstrong' :P My mom's car got smashed pretty bad at the driver's end.. Luckily my mom - who taught me to wear seatbelts :P - was OK.. We waited a full hour by the roadside waiting for a tow truck to come by.. And you know how traffic jams in Malaysia are caused by curious onlookers? Well, let's just say our accident caused the traffic jam along boths ways of the PLUS highway yesterday afternoon :P
Thank you God for sparing my family's life.. And thank you Mom for the instinctive motherly protection you gave my brother and I.. When you held out your arm to me and purposely swerved the car to the left so that only the driver's side would sustain maximum damage, I know there's no other mother like you.. I could never forgive myself if anything happened to you.. I love you so much, Mom..
