Sorry for not updating.. I've been so darn busy I didn't even have the time to update.. What's worst, the Internet connection in my room is dead, so that means the only place I can access the Net is at the IT Lab..
So what have I been up to the last one week? I learned about the consequences of procrastinating the hard way.. I had to submit my completed UCAS form on Wednesday and I only finished filling it up around 2 hours before the deadline.. To make matters worse, my chalet area suffered from blackouts, right at the moment I badly needed to print my personal statement onto my form! Arrrgghhhhh.. As a result, I had to lug my laptop and printer to the TV room which had electricity while skipping 2 classes in the process.. Thankfully I managed to submit it on time, although missing a single sheet of printed A4 paper I forgot to enclose.. I only did that the following day.. hehe :P
Then the remainder of the week was used to prepare for our KYUEM Chess Invitational.. If there was a prize for the sloppiest event organization on the planet, our Chess Club would win hands down.. Everything was done right at the very last moment in the most inefficient manner.. So many procedures were ignored and so many people got pissed by us.. And today, at the beginning of the 2-day event, almost everything that could go wrong just did.. One of our guest colleges came earlier than our registration crew.. Our backdrop fell during the opening ceremony.. I discovered that one of the contestants was an acquaintance of mine who happened to be a Malaysian representative.. The best player from last year's invitational came, despite vowing not to return for another of our 'kiddies event'.. Out of 2 toilets in each apartment used by the guests, 1 would be out of water.. One college decided not to come at the very last minute, leaving us waiting in vain..
OVerall, it was a very draining day.. Z's on his Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award expedition.. Even he's having a tough time too.. I guess today's just not our day..
So how did our team fare? We lost to the Malaysian rep's team 3.5-1.5.. Then we bounced back by winning the next round.. I'm not sure how well we'd do tomorrow, but I guess the top spot's just not within our grasp.. And besides, I'd love to see the cocky Mr. Best Player get beaten by that Malaysian rep :P
