Accounts of an Adolescent

I think I've said this time and time again.. I think that the best thing about blogging is the mere fact that you can get so much feedback over what you write.. So FI, E, A and anybody else for that matter, if you have anything to say about my posts, feel free to do so.. But to the point where I have to take back what I've said? Never.. What I write is what I feel at that point in time.. With all due respect to other people, I duly admit that what I say might be disagreeable.. And I welcome any healthy debate on it.. But I repeat, I will not retract anything I've written here.. Apologize, maybe.. But to retract? Never..

There, now that I've gotten that small matter out of the way, let me continue with my recap of my last week in college..

After our college play's final rehearsal, we congregated to the cafe for a small party for Veritas team members.. There was this small rift between me and F regarding RM4 that I will always remember in the annals of my limited history.. It's funny how such a small thing could spark so much rage in two supposedly mature individuals.. I guess we're not so grown up after all.. Nevertheless, everything went well in the end, so I don't think it's appropriate at all for me to bring up what's past.. Anyway, there were loads of food.. Fried maggi mee and free flowing mango juice.. Ahh, bliss.. Although there was the customary delay for our food initially, we had ouselves a good time in the end, courtesy of KFC supplied by our generous Mr. F :)

It was d-day for our college play, 'Henry The Tenth (Part Seven)'.. I played the role of a country bumpkin called Clodpony, with a walking stick to boot.. I've been practising how to stab myself in the foot for months now.. You have no idea how relieved I was to get it over and done with :P You see, our play was a course drama, meaning that something would always go wrong with the production.. The concept was fairly new to the cast.. I mean, come on.. Why would you purposely want to flunk in front of an audience? But nevertheless, we had so much fun doing it.. We were laughing all the way through.. The only sour note to the play was.. the audience! There were so many jokes that warranted thunderous laughter, but all we got was silence that could rival the ones during a funeral.. I don't know.. Maybe after being in the play for so long (read: months), I've learned to grasp each and every joke, subtle or otherwise, and I've never failed to crack up each time.. But I guess asking the audience to fully comprehend a 40-minute play consisting of Shakespearean gobbledygook is too much to ask :P

Nevertheless, I totally loved my Elizabethan costume for my 2nd role as the lady-in-waiting.. It was a flowing velvet dress with small patterns of violet flowers.. Hmm.. Come to think of it, the pattern does resemble a window curtain :P Its sleeves were long and slit to the elbows.. And the whole getup was complimented by a headdress that also flowed to the back.. After the play, I was so reluctant to part with it.. *Sob* :(

Sapphire's house dinner was held in a seafood restaurant in Tanjung Malim.. It's funny that I've visited this town so many times but it was the first time I ever saw that restaurant :P The food was excellent.. S was telling me that he wouldn't repeat the same mistake of sitting at a table full of hungry boys as he did during the recent Student Dinner.. And there he was sitting next to my table, surrounded by most of our junior boys.. Heh, tough luck.. As for me, considering that almost all girls are on diets one way or another - except for me - I was the only one who actually asked for seconds.. I tell you, all the girls who sat at my table were practically in awe over my ability to eat.. no, wait.. gorge :P

Awards Day saw our seniors being celebrated with much pomp and pageantry.. From the 2 Scholars of the Year that were announced, we could only come to the conclusion that those awards are reserved for Cambridge-bound students alone :P We had a complete gamelan troupe performing live throughout the ceremony which brought me back to my old school days in SMK Section 9, Shah Alam where every ceremony was accompanied by the distinct sound of gamelan played on tape :P

In the afternoon, after a mad rush of packing all my belongings in my room, my dad and I went to the academic rooms to meet my teachers at their workstations.. We only got to see my English teacher, Mr. Z and my housemaster, Mr. C.. There was a time when I totally feared Parents' Days because of the verbal assault I'd be getting both inside and outside the classroom :P But coming to KYUEM totally changed my perspective.. I've never been so highly praised in my entire academic life.. At the risk of sounding like a total brag, "She's a wonderful student" is a far cry from the previous "She'll never get into any university" :P

So that was how my 2nd semester in KYUEM ended.. How's my holidays so far? Never been better.. Well, never been lazier as well.. One week of sleep, sleep and more sleep.. Especially after catching the late Euro 2004 games at 2am daily.. Thanks to Z, I'm now hooked on Euro 2004 fantasy football.. OK, so I'm totally hopeless at it.. But watching football matches are extra fun when you've got some of your own 'players' on the field :P
