Accounts of an Adolescent

Tuesday, April 13, 2004

On Monday morning, we woke up late :P From our initial plan of having breakfast at 7am, we only arrived at the dining hall at 7.30am.. Thankfully the dining hall guys were kind enough to cook extra food for us - a delicious meal of eggs, sausages, bread and baked beans.. Alhamdulilllah..

Then began our first day at work.. We had one computer class with Form 2 A and I had loads of fun.. I thought that after almost a year from my last job as a temporary teacher in my old secondary school, I must've lost my touch by now.. But as soon as I introduced myself, I must admit that I was in my element.. I loved meeting the kids.. Despite their initial disinterest in class, I'm proud to see them slowly turn away from their computer educational in favour of my ice-breaking session :) Each of them had to fill up some survey forms on e-learning to help us create our report.. And after that, I asked all the students to introduce themselves.. It turned out to be pretty happening.. Unfortunately, we only had 30 minutes, so it was definitely too short in my opinion.. But I had lots of fun nonetheless.. And teaching these kids for those few minutes was more than enough to reinforce my love for the teaching profession..

Then came the gruelling part.. We were told to rewire the whole computer lab, which meant it involved lots of wire crimping, furniture shifting and tired bodies :P I was such a failure at crimping - fastening plastic jacks at the ends of network cables - that almost 90% of all the damaged jacks were caused by me :P I guess I'm not really meant for the job.. heh..

At 6pm, P came around to 'save' us by taking us out to Jaya Jusco for dinner.. It turned out that everybody agreed on eating at Nando's which incidentally was the place where E, R, me and my ex-boyfriend went during our first outing together.. E was giving me his evil smirks while everybody else innocently coaxed me into the restaurant.. Darn.. I told myself not to make this another guilt trip down memory lane..

Then P accompanied me to get some stuff from the supermarket.. After a while, he left to buy something, so I was left to shop on my own, carrying the supermarket's basket.. Which brought me back to the day when my ex used to carry my basket around the supermarket during the same trip with E and co. too.. Darn..

As I went to the checkout counter to pay for my purchases, guess who I saw talking to P.. My ex-boyfriend.. What are the odds of that?? How could I bump into him in Melaka.. And especially after all the nostalgic daydreams I had just before that? I quickly turned my gaze away from him.. I really hoped that he didn't see me.. Although it's highly unlikely since I wasn't really that far away from them..

Still another 4 days to go.. I think I'm getting used to my surroundings here.. And living in the apartment doesn't seem so bad anymore.. I realized that for the last 48 hours, I've done nothing but whine and whine and whine some more.. I think I better buck up now..
