I'm at KYSM now.. And the thought wizzing through my head? I WANNA GO HOME!!!!!!
OK, so I have the tendency to overdramatise things.. But when you get stuck in an apartment which resembles a store room for old mattresses and pillows, you'd feel some reluctance to stay here too.. Coupled with the fact that the guys got the posh, air-conditioned guesthouse, which Tan Sri Halim Saad occasionally stays in, you can say I'm a bit peeved.. OK, I'm really peeved..
I got here around 4pm after H told me to "come as quickly as possible" because apparently we had a lot of work to do.. We had to prepare a full report of our activities for the next week and also create a presentation for our next Friday assembly.. Heh, honestly, the moment I heard of our workload, I felt like moving as slow as possible.. hehehe..
As soon as I arrived, E was waiting at the guardhouse.. Then he brought us to our apartment.. It had this huge stack of old mattresses in its living room and a bunch of pillows.. And none of them had bedsheets on them.. Great.. I felt like hopping back into my mom's car as soon as I saw the apartment.. But, oh well.. I waved goodbye as I tried to fake my sweetest smile.. In my head, I was dreading the next 6 days already..
After RX, my roommate, arrived, we went to visit the boys' guesthouse.. And to us girls' surprise, it was like a 5-star resort! Even their walkways are lined with green shrubs.. They have two TV sets and 3 air-conditioners.. Our apartment only had ceiling fans! Oh my god.. I was so green with envy while the boys boasted about their place.. But their stay there is only temporary.. They're only going to stay there for one night before moving into their intended bungalow.. Bungalow!! Grrr.. Life is so unfair.. I cannot understand why the KYSM people decided to give the guys such lavish accomodation and chuck us girls into that store room.. Maybe E, KYSM's star ex-student, 'deserved' some VIP attention..
RX and I got lost a few times on the way to our apartment.. And then we missed our dinner because we went late and their dining hall was already closed by then.. And to rub salt to our wound, even the cafeteria was closed.. So we hit the panic button - we called Mr. R to bring us out of KYSM for some food.. Being the generous man that he is, he sportingly obliged.. So in 30 minutes, he was at the college gates waiting for us.. Mr. R rocks!
Then he brought us to the lakeside tom yam restaurant.. But it was pretty ironic that we didn't order any tom yam dishes :P Every one of us ate fried rice instead.. And we talked a bit about our career prospects in IT with Mr. R.. He's so cool.. I can't believe how lucky we are to have him as our advisor.. Especially after he picked up the RM50 meal tab!
After dinner, we went to the IT lab a.k.a. cyber cafe to begin setting up all our computers.. E and F proceeded to spout some technical PC gobbledygook with KYSM's IT manager, Mr. A.. H, RX and I just stood gaping at the sidelines because we couldn't comprehend anything they were talking about :P
So apart from the report, what else are we supposed to do? That's a good question, actually.. Because apart from E and F who was technical know-how in setting up networks, the rest of us practically have nothing else to do other than sit pretty and listen to more technical jargons.. I'm trying to get Mr. A to let me take over one of his Form 4 SPM IT classes rather than being idle facilitators in his usual Form 2 computer classes.. The former would allow me to really do what I enjoy the most - teach.. Whereas the latter would only let me stand still and watch the whole class do their own work.. Not fun at all.. So I hope I can push my luck with Mr. A this time around..
Wish me luck.. I'll need all the luck I can get to pull me through the next 5 days here.. This is survival at its best..
