I was on my way back to my chalet when I got the shock of my life - I ran into a black cobra! It was right in front of my neighbour's steps.. I was walking right in front of those steps when suddenly the black slithering creature moved abruptly in my direction.. I jumped at the sight of it! Imagine, I was only a few steps away from it.. I almost got myself bitten! I quickly ran into my chalet and my heart was beating like crazy.. The guard came around with her motorbike and I flagged her down to tell her about the snake.. But by then it was already gone..
All day long, as I walk through the corridors along the chalets, all I could think of was the snake.. I would imagine that somehow it would come out of nowhere just to sink its venomous fangs into my flesh.. It was so creepy.. I don't think I'll be recovering from this close encounter any time soon..
It's old news, really.. Most of us girls know that cobras have been spotted around the place.. But to actually see one with my own eyes.. It just made me realize how close I was to the unthinkable.. God knows what could've happened had the snake succeeded in aiming for me.. I still can't shake off how close the snake was in front of me.. Less than a metre at most.. The very thought of it still makes me shiver inside..
I still haven't told my neighbours about the sighting.. On one hand, I don't want them to get spooked the way I am now.. But wouldn't it be ethical for me to warn them beforehand?
