Our house got dead last :P
For most of the part, the technical problems were the main cause of the mishaps.. The lights were late.. The sound effects came out as echoes to the action.. Our lead actor stood behind the erected screen for a few minutes because he didn't know when to come out.. And when the curtains were closed, we had left most of the furniture and props outside the drapes!
All the other houses performed considerably better.. They definitely put in a lot more effort into their props compared to our house.. And their own lead actors were more convincing in their portrayals :P I'm not trying to derogate our own house's ability.. But it really seemed to me that we thought we had done the best for one week's worth of preparations.. Obviously, we were wrong..
I went to the event wearing a saree that I borrowed from my friend, M.. She tied the fabric round and round my body as I kept telling to myself.. "How was I talked into this?".. "How did I get myself into this?".. "Why am I doing this?".. "What the heck am I doing here?"
But then after bumping into (a lot) of people, they all commented on how nice I looked.. So I guess it wasn't so bad after all :) Of course, only when I wasn't tripping on the stairs or stepping onto my skirt :P
Then after our performance, starvingly, I went to get some food.. Only to find the buffet table almost empty :P The rice was gone and we were only left with bits and pieces of chicken and loads of vegetables.. I ate some rubbery 'roti bom' with curry.. Halfway into my meal, only then did I realize that another buffet table still had lots of food.. Darn..
So tomorrow my life will return to normal.. This past week has been very enjoyable despite the hectic and demanding pace.. I'm sure to get a bit disorientated tomorrow when I find myself with nothing else to do :P
