Accounts of an Adolescent

Wednesday, February 18, 2004

My decision to attend the talk has to be the wisest decision in my life.. Ustaz Zawawi delivered the talk.. He's famous for conducting the Sirah segment in Al-Hidayah, shown on TV3 every Friday.. The most intriguing questions he asked were : Why do we fall in love? Where does our love come from? What is the purpose of our love?

He gave this example.. When we mingle amongst the rich people, invariable we feel rich ourselves.. So when we love Him, we will feel powerful too.. Love for Allah is the only love that won't hurt you.. If you feel good just by ranting all your problems to somebody, then how come we rarely tell our problems to Allah?

Leaving the hall, I pondered a lot.. All my life I keep running after guys, trying to jump into relationships in the name of 'living' and 'experimenting' with life.. But where has that led me so far? I don't see myself getting more matured in terms of relationships.. Instead I keep repeating the same old cycle again and again..

The problems with most relationships is that when it's forged based on the wrong reasons, it will almost always go wrong.. Love should be something that you treasure because when everything's said and done, it's the only thing that will pull you through life's ups and downs..

I know I'm still young, but somehow the song All By Myself keeps popping into my head :P Because to me, I don't think I've ever taken love seriously despite my obsession for the subject.. I've never had a steady relationship lasting more than a few months because subconsciously I keep telling myself that love is always replaceable.. It's high time for me to change that perception..

You're supposed to be picky when you choose your better half.. But to the extent of chucking a guy and falling for the next available male just has to end here :P

I presented my Valentine's Day presentation today and despite anticipating more than a few controversial questions about its celebration by Muslims, surprisingly the Muscom girls in my class were inexplicably reserved.. Phew.. At least my neck was saved :P

Tomorrow I have another 2 tests and a Hepatitis B jab.. Darn.. Then after that, I have to participate in a Treasure Hunt for ICAN since there's nobody else from our house, Sapphire who wanted to join in.. In other words, I was forced yet again.. Oh well.. C'est la vie.. That's the way (my) life is..
