Accounts of an Adolescent

Sunday, January 11, 2004

Today was a very eventful day that I had to extend my 'curfew' till 1am :P

In the morning I finally gotten round to washing the huge bundle of clothes I had in my laundry basket.. Then as I was getting ready for the MPO concert at KLCC, I got a message from one of the candidates for the female vice-presidency, S.. It turned out that she was going to be putting up posters after all, thus breaking our pact not to campaign.. Darn.. Now what am I supposed to do? Follow suit and put up my own portraits of self-promotion? For one thing, I don't believe in promoting myself.. (unless it's between me and my brother :P).. But secondly, I thought we had a deal.. A few of my other friends were also succumbing to outside pressure to join the poster wars.. In fact, I'm having my own share of the pressure.. But tll now I've kept to my word of not campaigning..

So with S finally bowing to pressure, I guess the deal's off then.. But does that mean that I should follow her too? I kept thinking about writing in my manifesto how I 'keep to my words' and what not.. But then I realized that it doesn't happen that often anyway :P

Plus, I realized that maybe I don't want this post that much after all.. How did I conclude this? When I totally ignored the messages I got for junior girls to help out decorating the hall :P I mean, of course it doesn't bode well for my election chances, but this is how I've always been - lazy, slow reflexes and hardly hardworking :P I give this notion to the college public that I'm this ultra-hardworker by doing so many things; chess, Veritas, college play, treasurer, etc.. But only those people who know me really well enough actually know how sloth-like I can be.. So you can imagine, once I've become part of the SC, how the heck am I supposed to cover that up for long?

The MPO concert was b.o.r.i.n.g.. For the 1st 1 and a half hours that is.. Then it really picked up towards the end.. The audience gave a huge applause at the end of the show each time the conductor disappeared that he had to do the encore 3 times! I particularly had a lot of fun becoming one of the 'unofficial' orchestra members when we clapped along to the final tune.. It was so cool!

Then we came home to attend our college's Ladies Night.. It was totally unexpected.. for us :P The committee did mention about 'decent' dress codes so me and the whole gang went there with very 'sopan' outfits.. Only to be greeted with our seniors who were wearing.. um.. very revealing outfits.. The music was cool.. The pizzas were cold.. The dancing was awesome (yes, I danced for the 1st time in my life!).. We had a pretty good time.. If it weren't for my chaletmate, H's piercing glances each time she comes around our spot.. She is the new SC's Religious Exco anyway :P

I'm sure that a lot of people will get a lot of rap from the Musolla Community tomorrow.. Maybe me and my gang in particular.. But then again, maybe that is what Ladies Night is all about.. To really get away with anything and everything for 1 night only ;)
