This morning, I made my very first successful sambal telur at home.. Yay! :) Then I slept the whole afternoon because my body was aching all over.. Probably because of the banana boat rides :P
Then after my mom came back from work, I started to get ready for Student Dinner.. This year, it's at Istana Hotel.. My mom worked her magic and gave me a quick, soothing facial.. I don't regret going home at all.. After the make-up session with my own personal 'Mama Dior' stylist, I looked like a Chinese opera singer with my bright red lipstick, dark red eye shadows and albino-like face.. After she did my tudung, my dad gave one look at me and said, "So when are you going to get married?" LOL :P
Thank you, mom! Thank you, dad! I love my parents sooooo much :)
My dad and I left Shah Alam for KL at 6.30pm and surprisingly arrived at 7.10pm, despite the rush hour.. Since I was wearing my contact lenses, so many people came up to me and said, "Oh, wow, I didn't recognize you," or "Is that you?", etc.. At the beginning, it felt like a novelty, but over time it became a little bit, well, sad.. It's as if you're walking around and people don't know you, heh :P
The food was OK, although I personally think last year's dinner was way better.. The fact that it was a buffet dinner was quite a huge letdown.. People were jostling all over for food.. Most girls sat quietly in their seats, waiting for the human rush to subside before helping themselves to the food.. When Disagree performed onstage, half of the hall was empty.. Lots of people were outside, snapping pictures with each other.. No offence to the band, but having a rock group perform for students in blazers and dresses is a bit awkward, don't you think? :P
Several awards were given out.. King and Queen of KYUEM, college jesters (male/female), prince and princess charming, King Kong (for P who apparently eats everything in his way, LOL :P).. There were also performances by various groups and during one particular performance, I actually went onstage to sing! Muahahaha.. It was so hilarious.. E and H were performing Someday We'll Know by Mandy Moore and Jonathan Foreman, a soundtrack from A Walk To Remember.. I love that song, and it happened that H forgot the lyrics to the second part of the song.. So I just raised my hand and invited myself to sing onstage.. Hahahaha.. It's sooo funny..
Gosh, I felt so excited when I went up there.. I could see H's bemused look, I could hear people saying "You go, [ insert someone else's name here ]!".. I guess you could say everybody was very surprised when I got up there.. Then I sang the verse after the first chorus and the crowd cheered for me! Yay! OMG, no words can express how happy I felt.. I was so scared of croaking like a toad but in the end it turned out pretty OK.. Well, I only had to sing a few verses anyway, and FYI, I actually flubbed the very first line.. But since nobody knows the lyrics anyway, I guess nobody will ever notice.. Muahahaha :P
Great company, edible food, impromptu singing and the sweetest date ever.. Add those all up and I've got myself a really memorable Student Dinner :)
