Accounts of an Adolescent

Sunday, December 12, 2004

It's been quite an eventful weekend.. Yesterday I had an open house with tonnes of food.. Nasi briyani, roti jala, laksa Johor, pulut, cheesecake, jelly, fruit punch and the new Pepsi Fire :P Lots of people came, so I guess I can put to rest my fear of not having any visitors during my open houses :P

Today I went to PC Fair.. I got P's wireless USB card for RM75 which is very cheap.. I also bought a small headset for RM5 and some ink refill kits for RM37.. Overall, it was quite a good bargain.. Everybody was pushing and shoving each other while the retailers were promoting their goods at the top of their lungs..

I also went there to sell a few empty catridges I had with me.. For this reason, I had to drag my hibernating brother out of bed to be my unpaid bodyguard.. The buyer and I agreed on RM10 per piece and it turned out that from the 3 that I brought, one of them wasn't original so he wasn't going to buy it.. So I walked away with RM20.. Then in the midst of PC Fair, I found a stall dedicated especially to buying empties and guess what.. My cartridges were valued at RM13! Multiplied by my 2 cartridges that I had sold just a few hours earlier, that meant a RM6 loss for me.. Waaaaaaaa :'(

My dad picked us up from PWTC at 2pm.. After lunch, he offered to buy my brother a new handphone because his old one was faulty.. My dad's initial budget was RM600, but by the end of our 5-hour shopping spree across The Mall, Ampang Park and Sungei Wang Plaza, my brother ended up the proud owner of a brand new Motorola E398.. The phone not only had a camera with a built-in light, it could play MP3 files through 3D stereo speakers! And to think my brother didn't want to follow me to KL in the first place :P

All the while, I was missing out on 2 of my friends' open houses, T and A.. I already told them that I wasn't going, but considering that both made an effort to come to my open house yesterday, it was inappropriate for me not to go to theirs.. But I guess nobody could possibly comprehend why I chose to go to KL instead of joining my group of friends travelling here and there..

I guess I'm just a loner, despite me trying to convince myself otherwise.. I have all these fun, wonderful people around me whom I call friends but when it comes to socializing, I just shut myself out.. I just don't click with people very well..

Why is that? No man is an island, for sure.. But how come I sometimes still feel as if I'm better off alone?
