Accounts of an Adolescent

These past few days, I've been helping Sapphire's nasyid group for IAW.. I must admit that I didn't intend on helping out at all in the first place.. But after seeing them perform tonight, I couldn't help feeling proud of them.. Well, their performance wasn't exactly stellar.. In my opinion, it's unfortunate for them to become the first group onstage because the judges would've made them the benchmark for other groups and thus make biased judgements against Sapphire, i.e. this group's better than us, this group isn't, etc.. The judges commented on the quirky way our group made their entrance - swaying to the beat of The Offspring.. But they also commented on how our soloists were expressionless and their voices couldn't be heard.. They also lacked confidence so it affected their presentation and style.. And I really felt like pulling my hair out of my scalp when I heard the girls at the back actually talking while the soloists were singing.. Grrr.. But overall, our percussionists were way better than the other houses and our voices were in tune, albeit off-key at times.. So OK, I'm not really optimistic of our chances at winning, but I'm really impressed over their show and I hope the juniors had much fun doing it.. Because I sure did :)

I hope they don't mind my nagging and screaming over these couple of days.. heh :P

R and I became impromptu stage assistants, fiddling with the microphone stands in between performances.. But thing is, each time we moved a stand, the next performer would always move it back to right where it was.. Grrr.. Oh well, I guess I should be happy that I got my 15 seconds of fame each time I went onstage.. muehehehe :P

Afterwards, R, FI, T and I adjourned to the cafe.. M supplied like gazillions of chocolates to us (Love you, M!) and while I was stuffing myself with them, everybody else was channeling their hatred towards other people they detested by pretending that they were chips of Pringles and proceeded to smack them to pieces.. Muahahahaha.. T even did this gross thing with a chocolate eclair.. ewww.. I don't think I want to go into details.. By the end of the session, the whole table was littered with crumbs of Pringles and strewn chocolate wrappers.. Gee, I guess we hated a lot of people.. hehe.. Mr. H walked into the cafe at 11.15pm.. With his thunderous voice, amazingly he managed to clear the cafe in 60 seconds flat..

I've really got to start studying.. I've got so much overdue homework and there's a Statistics test on Saturday.. I'm one month into the third semester but I haven't absorbed a single thing into my head.. And my AS exams are looming in 60 days.. Gosh.. Time sure flies when you're having fun..

Less study = More fun
Less study + Awful grades = Less fun + More scolding
Exams + Homework = Tension
Tension + Bed = Sleep
(Exams + Homework) + Bed = Sleep?

Hehehe :)
